Do workout clothes make a difference? Does athletic wear make you perform better?. The answer is a resounding yes. Whether you're working out in a gym, at home or outdoor , proper athletic wear can transform your performance.

Nothing motivates you to go to the gym more than a new workout gear. Not only will you feel good coz you’ll look good, and that’s something you want when surrounded by mirrors in the gym.

However, putting a wrong workout gear can be risky as it may cause discomfort and lead to injury.

You want to focus completely on the exercises to feel a better mind muscle connection and not be distracted coz you are constantly tugging your T-shirt down at the gym or not perform a particular exercise, stretch or yogasana properly as your Tights or shorts are constantly riding up?

Similarly, you do not want to start your workouts after wearing ill fitted clothes which are either too loose or too tight or not stretchable enough which restricts your movements.

  • Avoid 100% Cotton Clothes: Don't make the mistake of wearing heavy-weight cotton t-shirts; they tend to hold on to moisture, making your workouts an uncomfortable experience.
  • Clothes that are too loose will constrict your movement . Clothing that is a little more fitted will give you a more aesthetic appeal.
  • Stop wearing intense Cologne Fragrance in the gym. 5-10 sprays for a workout at the gym? Forget about it! You're going to a gym, not a nightclub. It could be unpleasant to others if your perfume is intense. Fragrances tend to linger and carry in closed environments which can induce headaches around the gym for some .
  • A big NO to Flip Flops . That's just an accident waiting to happen.
  • Leave Jewellery at Home: Whether you're wearing chains, watches or rings, you risk damaging jewellery by banging metal against metal or on a machine.
  • Not cleaning or changing your clothes;, The most innocent of all mistakes is when we lounge around in our workout gear long after finishing with our routine. Long exposure to sweat can lead to body odour and also weaken the fabric.
  • Regular Bras or Stretched – Out Sports Bras: Saggy old sports bras with stretched-out elastic are a bad idea, too.. “If you’re not wearing a sufficiently supportive bra to work out, bounce isn’t the only thing you have to worry about... “If you have a moderate to large chest, the movement can lead to upper back and shoulder pain post-workout and can increase the chances for breasts sagging in the future.
  • Using the same Gear for Different Activities: Most people end up wearing the same shoes for running, walking or a physical sport or wear regular athletic shorts or same gear for different kind of workouts. Such blunders will restrict your movement and prevent you from making the most of your workout.
